Bringing Out the Best in You
Point 1 - You Have Greatness Within You
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
- 2 Corinthians 4:7 (KJV)
The most precious treasures in this world are hidden deep in the earth. Diamonds. Gold. Oil. Pearls. None of them are found lying on the surface - you have to dig for them. That's exactly how God made you. The treasure isn't sitting on top where everyone can see it. It's inside you, waiting to be discovered.
Point 2 - Discovering the Treasure Within You
A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things.
- Matthew 12:35 (KJV)
Point 3 - Reset Your Mindset - You Are Enough
Let this mind which was in Christ Jesus be also in you.
- Philippians 2:5 (NKJV)
Point 4 - You Need Personal Confidence - You Are Enough
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
- Philippians 1:6
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
- Philippians 4:13 (KJV)
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.
- Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)
You are enough!
Point 5 - Reposition Yourself
Iron sharpens iron.
- Proverbs 27:17 (NKJV)
Stop measuring yourself by people, problems, pain, and your past. Start measuring yourself by God's power, plan, purpose, and promise.
Don't be defined by your past. Be directed by God's future.
Point 6 - Develop What God Deposited
Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
- 2 Timothy 1:6 (KJV)
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
- Luke 2:52 (KJV)
- You are responsible for development.
- A gift undeveloped benefits no one.
- God gives potential.
What God deposited in you can change the world.
Point 7 - Pursue Your Purpose
Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
- Isaiah 43:7 (KJV)
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
- Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)
You were born to impact humanity and build the kingdom of God.
God created. God formed. God called. You purposed. Now pursue it.
Point 8 - Make a Promise to God, Yourself, and Your Family
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
- Joshua 24:15 (KJV)
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself.
- Daniel 1:8 (KJV)
Your commitment today determines your testimony tomorrow.
Today I choose. I commit - to God, to myself, to my family, for His glory.
Point 9 - Give It All You've Got
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.
- Ecclesiastes 9:10 (KJV)
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
- Ecclesiastes 9:11 (KJV)
Put your heart in it. Be passionate about God's purpose, your assignment, your gifts, your dreams, and your goals.
Don't do it halfway. Do it with all you've got!
Point 10 - Bring Out the Best in You
He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.
- John 7:38 (KJV)
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.
- Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)
Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened.
- Matthew 9:29 (KJV)
God has already placed greatness inside of you. It's your responsibility to discover it, develop it, and deploy it.
Believe it. Receive it. Release it. Let the best in you flow!
Discussion Questions
- Think of a "treasure" God has placed in you - a gift, skill, or passion - that you haven't fully developed yet. What is one small step you could take this week to start digging it out?
- What people, problems, pain, or past mistakes have you been using to measure your worth? What would it look like to measure yourself instead by God's power, plan, purpose, and promise?
- Where in your life have you been "telling God what you can't do" instead of trusting what He's already begun in you? What's one area where you need to reset your mindset and declare "I am enough" in Christ?
- Point 6 reminds us that "a gift undeveloped benefits no one." What is one gift or calling you've been neglecting, and what's stopping you from developing it?
- Point 8 challenges us to make a promise to God, ourselves, and our family. Take a moment to write out your own commitment statement, modeled after "Today I choose, I commit - to God, to myself, to my family, for His glory." What does that commitment look like for you this week?
