Blueprint: The Power of God's Word in Your Life
The Power of Speaking God's Word
Years ago, God gave me a vision and began to speak it. I didn't know what God would do through me, but I believed. Believers, you will live in the words you have spoken over your lives. I believe with all my soul this message will change your life.
2 Corinthians 4:13-15 (AMP)
Yet we have the same spirit of faith as he had, who wrote in Scripture, "I believed; therefore I spoke." We also believe; therefore, we also speak, knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and will present us [along] with you in His presence. For all [these] things are for your sake, so that as [God's remarkable, undeserved] grace reaches to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of [our great] God.
2 Corinthians 4:13-15 (MSG)
We're not keeping this quiet, not on your life. Just like the psalmist who wrote, "I believed it, so I said it," we say what we believe. And what we believe is that the One who raised up the Master Jesus will just as certainly raise us up with you, alive. Every detail works to your advantage and to God's glory: more and more grace, more and more people, more and more praise!
Key Principles
#1 God Created Everything With Words
John 1:1-4 (AMP)
In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being. In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men.
Hebrews 11:3 (AMP)
By faith [that is, with an inherent trust and enduring confidence in the power, wisdom and goodness of God] we understand that the worlds (universe, ages) were framed and created [formed, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose] by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.
Genesis 1:3 (AMP)
Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
#2 God's Word Is Fixed And Settled
Psalm 119:89 (AMP)
Your word, O LORD, is everlasting; it is firmly fixed in the heavens.
Matthew 24:35 (AMP)
Heaven and earth [as now known] will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
Ezekiel 12:25 (AMP)
For I the Lord will speak, and whatever word I speak will be accomplished. It will no longer be delayed, for in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and I will fulfill it," says the Lord God.
Daily Confessions:
- I have to lock in on what is fixed
- The Lord is my Shepherd. I do not want. My God supplies all my need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Ps. 23:1; Phil. 4:19).
- I do not fret or have anxiety about anything. I do not have a care (Phil. 4:6; 1 Pet. 5:6,7).
- I am the Body of Christ. I am redeemed from the curse, because Jesus bore my sicknesses and carried my diseases in His own body. By His stripes I am healed. I forbid any sickness or disease to operate in my body. Every organ, every tissue of my body functions in the perfection in which God created it to function. I honor God and bring glory to Him in my body (Gal. 3:13; Matt. 8:17; 1 Pet. 2:24; 1 Cor. 6:20).
- I have the mind of Christ and hold the thoughts, feelings, and purposes of His heart (1 Cor. 2:16).
- I am a believer and not a doubter. I hold fast to my confession of faith. I decide to walk by faith and practice faith. My faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Jesus is the Author and the Developer of my faith (Heb. 4:14; Heb. 11:6; Rom. 10:17; Heb. 12:2).
#3 Words Have Creative Power
Isaiah 55:11 (AMP)
So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
Psalm 33:6-9 (AMP)
By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, And all their host by the breath of His mouth... For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.
Proverbs 18:21 (AMP)
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.
#4 God's Word Has Inherent Power
Hebrews 4:12 (AMP)
For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 1:3 (AMP)
The Son is the radiance and only expression of the glory of [our awesome] God [reflecting God's Shekinah glory, the Light-being, the brilliant light of the divine], and the exact representation and perfect imprint of His [Father's] essence, and upholding and maintaining and propelling all things [the entire physical and spiritual universe] by His powerful word [carrying the universe along to its predetermined goal].
#5 We Were Created To Model God's Process
Genesis 1:26 (AMP)
Then God said, "Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the earth."
Genesis 2:19 (AMP)
So the LORD God formed out of the ground every animal of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name.
We are called to echo God—to speak His words and participate in His creative process.
John 15:7 (AMP)
If you remain in Me and My words remain in you [that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you.
#6 We Must Speak God's Will, Which Is God's Word
We must bring ourselves into alignment with God's Word. We are to echo God's word.
Matthew 4:4 (AMP)
But Jesus replied, "It is written and forever remains written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.'"
#7 Our Words Will Not Supersede God's Will
Lamentations 3:37 (AMP)
Who is there who speaks and it comes to pass, Unless the Lord has authorized and commanded it?
Building On The Right Foundation
We must build our lives on the solid foundation of God's Word—standing on the Rock.
Psalm 127:1 (AMP)
Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.
Isaiah 28:16 (AMP)
Therefore the Lord GOD says this, "Listen carefully, I am laying in Zion a Stone, a tested Stone, A precious Cornerstone for the [secure] foundation, firmly placed. He who believes [who trusts in, relies on, and adheres to that Stone] will not be disturbed or give way [in sudden panic]."
1 Corinthians 3:10-11 (AMP)
According to the [remarkable] grace of God which was given to me [to prepare me for my task], like a skillful master builder I laid a foundation, and now another is building on it. But each one must be careful how he builds on it, for no one can lay a foundation other than the one which is [already] laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Matthew 21:42 (AMP)
Jesus asked them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: 'The [very] Stone which the builders rejected and threw away, Has become the chief Cornerstone; This is the Lord's doing, And it is marvelous and wonderful in our eyes'?"
Discussion Questions
- Reflecting on the power of words: How have the words you've spoken over your own life—both positive and negative—shaped your reality? Can you identify specific examples where your words have either built you up or torn you down?
- Living in alignment: What does it practically look like to "echo God" in your daily life? How can you ensure that your words align with God's Word rather than your circumstances or emotions?
- The daily confessions: Which of the confessions listed resonates most with an area of your life that needs transformation? How might regularly speaking this truth change your perspective and actions?
- Building on the right foundation: In what areas of your life might you be "building" without the Lord—trying to accomplish things in your own strength rather than standing on His Word? What would it look like to rebuild those areas on Christ as the cornerstone?
- From belief to speech: The passage says "I believed; therefore I spoke." What has God promised you that you need to start believing and speaking over your life? What's holding you back from declaring those promises with confidence?
